The idiom is; " drop someone a line " meaning write someone a short letter, or something of that effect.

Could we also say "leave" here? For eg; I will leave you a message or an e-mail later. Also, when we use the verb "leave" this way, what prepositions could it be followed by in sentences like I've written below, please?
