Drives or drove.

Father always drives/drove along the same road to work.

Can drove be used if Father has passed away? Please let me know the rules that allow or disallow it as well please! Thank you!

Don't use the present or the present perfect if he has passed away.

He [ always drives / has always driven] along the same road to work is anomalous if "he" is dead.

Obviously, the future is also impossible.
