Drive off

Hi, i'm writing a script and I have a question to that.

A guy gets into a taxi.

Then there is some dialog. The taxi driver asks the guy where he wants to go. The guy answers.

The taxi driver drives off.

Then they talk some more.

That's the scene.

- Is "drives off" natural here? (even though we stay with them in the taxi)

- Is "They drive off" better?

Top answer

anonymous - Is "drives off" natural here? Not to me. The next sentence is "Then they talk some more", and when I read that, I thought, How can they talk some more when the taxi driver has already left?
