Could you put “of” or “in” in the blank? I suggest 'in your lane'. If you drive to the right of something, it suggests that it is on your left, ie you see it if you look to your left. This also conflicts with the use of the phrase 'your lane', because if you are to the right of it, it's no longer your lane.
Is “so as” optional or better without? I'd omit it
