Dreams go by contratries

Hi

It's a VERY common saying in my part of the world. Would you say it is common among native speakers as well?

Dreams go by contraries (=if you see someone dead in your dream, it means he is going to live long)

I've never heard of it, and I would not know what it meant if you said it (US). Alcott refers to it. It is not in Brewer's.
