Drawing from

1. Does "drawing from" refer to "issues of racial stereotyping"?

2. Does "hip-hop and blaxploitation movies" mean "hip-hop culture and blaxploitation movies"?

Text:

In this sense, the advertisements once again act out a role that art normally plays in the culture. The work of Chris Ofili, for example, sets up a similarly humorous and satirical look at racial stereotyping to that of the Mars commercials. Not so far from the strategies adopted by Nike advertisers, Ofili has used the forms and images of popular culture to deal with similar issues of racial stereotyping, drawing from hip-hop and blaxploitation movies.

No. You can't get all that just from "drawing from", which only means "taking from". I think you're using "refer" incorrectly.

However, and I think maybe this is what you're getting at, the whole participle clause drawing from hip-hop and blaxploitation movies has "Ofili"
