DQ

1. Parenthetical expressions provide comments, explanations, digressions, or other supplementary information not essential to meaning--- for example, fortunately, unfortunately, all things considered, to be frank, in other words. Set parenthetical expressions off with commas. But i still don't know what does "parenthetical expression" mean? and what does "digressions" mean?

2. What does "tag quesitions" mean? e.g. Jones should be allowed to vote, should he not?

3. Combine each group of sentencces below into one sentence that contains only two main clauses connected by the coordinating conjuntion in parentheses. Separate the main clauses with a comma. 1.Parents were once legally required to bestow the father's surname on their children. These laws have been contested in court. They have been found invalid. (but) My sentence is : The laws that parents were once legally required to bestow the father's surname on their children have been contested in court, but they have been found invalid. Please check.
