I borrowed some motorcycles and rode around LA on my downtime.
--- I've found that "downtime" can mean to "calm down". So is it possible that he was riding a motorbike just to calm down or rather in his free time?
Thanks

I'm not familiar with the usage you describe. Do you understand it to work like a verb, rather than a noun? - like "downsize"?

In manufacturing, "downtime" can be a dirty word, referring to those periods when a production line is broken down because of accidental damage to equipment, or other types of equipment failure.
Of course there's planned downtime for routine maintenance.
