I have seen the word downsize is used for conditions that factories lay off many of their workers to have a smaller factory because of recession or other thing.
I wonder if we can use this word for graphs and plots, for instance this graph is downsized from 10cm2 to 5cm2.

The use of decrease instead of reduce sounds strange to me. I wonder if it is possible to use that. And if not, What is the explanation? What is the difference between reduce and decrease.
Both verbs can be both transitive and intransitive.
