Downfall

Is this sentence correct (or does it make sense)?

"He's very upset for the financial downfall that he suffered recently."

(And is there any term which could replace 'downfall'?)

Note: By 'downfall', I don't mean that he's broke forever, but he suffered considerable financial losses.
