Down Out

Hi,
I would like to know what does "Down out" means? If this expression doesn`t exist...in your opinion what does it tells you? and how can be used?
In Mexico we use the expression "Fuera abajo"(Down out) like.. if you drop something from high, this expression advice people that are down (in 1st floor for example) to be as far as posible, so then don´t get hurt.
Thanks a lot

You are probably thinking of "down and out". It's most likely from the sport of boxing, when one of the combattants is hit, falls to the floor (down) and has lost consciousness (out). It can mean 'depressed', 'terribly unlucky', 'poor', and probably other things as well.

  • "Fuera abajo" would be "look out below" in English.

I agree with Philip.

Fuera abajo!!! = Watch out (down) below!!! = Look out (down) below!!!

(Those of you who are down below, [watch out / look out / get out of the way] !!! )

In the special case of cutting down a tree, they say, "Timber!!!"
