Doubts about article: A or AN?

I have doubt whether I use A or AN in the sentence below:

" I delivered AN/A one-hour presentation to the transition team"

I have learned that I should use AN when the subsequent subject starts with a vowel.
However, a friend of mine told me that I should use A.

Please, help.

Thanks!

Hi, I have doubt whether I use A or AN in the sentence below: " I delivered AN/A one-hour presentation to the transition team" Use A I have learned that I should use AN when the subsequent subject starts with a vowel. No, only use AN if the word starts with a vowel sound . eg A unique statue (starts with a Y sound) eg AN ugly statue However, a friend of mine told me that I should use A.

What is the rule in this situation?

"One-hour presentation" starts with a vowel sound, right?

Thank you once more,

No, the word "one" is pronounced like "won" and does not start with a vowel sound.
