Doubt on the use of preposition

Does this sentence makes sense?

The sightseers were shown around the ancient ruins.

I'm not sure is there any preposition before the ancient ruins

As Philip says, the original is fine:

The sightseers were shown around the ancient ruins.- - This suggests a rather extensive or thorough tour

The sightseers were shown the ancient ruins.-- This does not suggest the extent of the tour - just that they viewed the ruins.
