Doubt on punctuation

Just an elementary doubt.

Must we always use ! in the following places?

Example 1: You did it, how typical! Or is a period okay as in: You did it, how typical.
Ex 2: Damn it!, Good heavens! or other interjections like Oops or Aha etc. Do we need ! or period.

Ex 3: How dare you! May I do this today! Again, ! or period in these cases?
Ex 4: Don't do it, you fool! (here, I feel ! would be better than period for emphasis' sake).

Thanks,

If the person is screaming or shouting something, or speaking with great urgency or alarm, use an exclamation point. If the person is talking softly, or in a normal tone of voice, use a period.

Thanks, AS. But what about unusual sentences like "How typical." or "Don't you dare."

Would a period do, as in: Don't you dare attack me.

Will a period look odd here?

Well, if someone were seriously threatening me with a weapon, I would be saying "don't you dare.." with alarm.
