Doubt in sentence

Dear all,

I would like to know whether the following sentence is correct. I have seen this sentence in a grammar book and doubt whether "with humour" is needed there as it seems "The joker told a joke" is enough there.

"The joker told a joke with humour".

Thanking you.

I would say that "with humour" is not entirely redundant. It does convey a little something extra about the manner in which he told the joke.

The joker told a joke. . .

Broadly speaking, try to avoid this kind of repetition in a sentence.

eg The writer wrote . . .

eg The driver drove . . .

eg The photographer produced a photo . . .

eg The cook likes cooking . . .

To a native speaker, this often sounds unnatural and even silly.
