I would like to know the meaning of the following sentences:
" He has been a police man "
Is he still a police man ? or Was he a police man. Kindly clarify it's meaning
There is a debate among us regarding the meaning of this sentence.

As a sentence by itself, "He has been a policeman" would normally be understood to mean that he was a policeman at some time in the past, but is no longer a policeman. This is because there seems no reason to use the present perfect if he is a policeman now. You would say "He is a policeman".
