Dear all,
Recently Pakistan made a guerrilla attack on Indian soldiers and killed some of them. Narendra Modi, India's prime minister ordered Indian soldier's to retaliate and they did so. Can I use the following sentence in this context.
" If Narendra Modi hadn't been the prime minister of India wouldn't have retaliated'
Thanks in advance
If Narendra Modi hadn't been the prime minister of India, the soldiers wouldn't have retaliated. You need a subject for the main clause. I put "the soldiers," but you might want to make a different choice.
