I don't understand that.

1/ What does the author mean when saying but would have been valid by deleting a portion of the wording, or reducing either a time period or the range or scope of activities?

2/ such undertakings = What undertakings?

3/ the modifications necessary = What modifications?

In short, please explain/ interpret the idea of this paragraph.I don't understand.

this is crucial to any detailed explanation. It's unreal conditional.

Now going back to your However ..... valid paragraph:
In short, the contractual obligations remain in effect/valid, even if there are some small changes to the contract.

This is enough for your now. This is difficult legal English (would be recommended to post in the legal forum here). It seems to be part of a license agreement (with Intel, or whoever).

IMO, you should choose easier stuff for your reading at your current level, because it's too difficult for you right now. Your latest questions at 2 and 3 show that.

2/ such undertakings = undertakings such as these=means the obligations taken under/in the contract

3/ the modifications necessary = the modifications necessary to make the text coherent/understandable (if some parts of it are deleted)

Another, more detailed translation:

However, if any of the obligations above are invalid (for whatever unspecified reasons), but can be made valid by deleting a portion of the wording (text of the contract), or reducing either a time period or the range or scope of activities, then such obligations still apply with only the modifications necessary to make them valid.

Otherwise, and this is the spirit of this paragraph
Beware: Changing the text here and there will not make you escape your contractual obligations, the contract still remains in force even in a shorter, slightly modified form
