Double was

J was wearing N's cloak and N while introducing him to his friends told them that the cloak J was wearing was his. J was angry at the frequent reference to the cloak because he thought it his insult and disgrace.

The use of was twice sounds correct to me in the sentence but I have never seen such sentence. Therefore, I'm confused. Is it correct?
