Double

Worldwide, there are currently about 600 million people over the age of 60. It is predictable that this number will double to 1.2 billion by 2025.

Can I say, " ...this number will be doubled to 1.2 billion by 2025."

It seems fine to me, but why use extra words? By the way, "It is predicted that this number will double" or "This number is predicted to double" may be what you want instead of "predictable", which is less idiomatic. CJ
