Dosn't it vs isn't it

Hi there!

I'm wodering which form is the correct one:

1. The clock ticks life away, isn't it?

or

2. The clock ticks life away, doesn't it?

I think I would go with the 2nd option but I'm not completely sure why. If anyone could explain this better, I would really appreciate.

Correct. ... ticks ..., doesn't it?

"isn't it?" can only be used if the main part of the statement has is or the contracted form 's.
