Speech & Pronunciation

Dorling Kindersley

Hi

How do you say 'Dorling Kindersley'? I think 'Dorling' is said as 'door-ling' and 'Kindersley' as 'kin-dur-z-lee'. Please let me know what you think. Thank you.

Regards

Everyone is master of the pronunciation of his or her own name. However, I would pronounce it as you suggest (with stresses on DOR and KIN, I presume).

Thank you, Mr Micawber. And if you have time then please also give a look to this thread. I understand that M-W should be asked the question but I have failed to find to any way to contact them.

Sorry, but I'm done with that thread, Jackson. Maybe someone else will pick up the discussion.

No problem, then. Anyway, thanks.

In AmE, I would rather use [ s ] instead of [ z ] before [ l ]. Cf. Wesley, Lesley, Chrysler, etc, in AmE.

Hi Doc.

I didn't know you people say 'chriss-ler' instead of 'chryz-ler'. Thanks for letting me know this. But I'm still happy with the 'z' version.
