Doorstopper

Hi, is it possible that a book can be a doorstopper in this sentence? Doorstopper is something you put under or against a door to keep it open. Is it a metaphor?

"That's what the promotional blurb on his new book, A Day at elBulli: An Insight into the Ideas, Methods and Creativity of Ferran Adrià, says anyway.
Part diary, part travelogue and part cookbook, the three-kilogram doorstopper is a feast for the eyes. "

Thank you for your help.

Zerox, probably. In Russian we would compare it to a brick or a rock. Interesting. Thank you.
