Doors I could walk through without knocking were shut..

Hi

Is this sentence natural?

Doors I could walk through without knocking were shut on me; ultimately I left the city.

Thanks,

Tom

I think the sentence is fine. Consider a comma after ultimately. " We think of a door being closed "on" someone's fingers.

I am assuming the question surrounds the use of "doors were shut on me."
That is a somewhat colorful and creative expression to mean "closed to (or for) me."
We think of a door being closed "on" someone's fingers.
Again, my opinion is "natural."
