Doomed to die

Hello,

Are my sentences proper?

At first there are more mice and few wolves.Since there is enough food to feed on the population of wolves goes up and the population of mice goes down. Facing with shortage of food, wolves are doomed to die. As a result mice have enough time to restore their population.
