Don't/Do Not

Good morning, dear teachers!

I know that don't/doesn't are contractions of do not/does not. But are there any cases in which I can't use contractions?

And how often do you use contractions? Is it a personal preference, or a feature of some kind of accent?

Top answer

Contractions are not normally used in formal writing, eg in a academic essay or eg in a business memo. In speaking, I'd say that everyone uses contractions. Clive
