Don't vs wouldn't

Don't you like apple? Can I use wouldn't instead of don't to be softer? Like: wouldn't you like apple? If I can use it, what would be the proper response to the question with wouldnt? Thank you.

You didn't pick apple sherbet. You picked orange. Don't you like apple? (A question asking if a person likes the apple flavor or not.)

A comparison of 'would like' with 'want' and 'like'

'would like' is in the same family as 'want'.
'like' is not about wanting.

Assertions:

I would like an apple. (common, polite)
I wouldn't like an apple. (probably never used)

I want an apple. (less polite than 'would like')
I don't want an apple. (OK)
