Don't understand

Is this right?

"I don't think this place likes me very much"

Also can someone explain to me when to use see, saw, sometime, sometimes, forget and forgot?

Like in this sentence,

"I was in the backyard earlier and I see this dead bird by the garden."

I though it should be saw since the sentense has was at the begining. I heard this statement from a TV show.

  • The first and last pairs are simple present and simple past.
  • With "sometime(s), both versions are adverbs, but have a slightly different meaning.
