Don't try to give an answer, try to explain it. An answer without an explaination only confirms the existence of an answer whatsoever, not the path it takes to reach there to trace which is the very purpose of education.

I thought about doing this, but it seems that an absurd answer, with or without an explanation, confirms nothing.

Should that thought be included?

Of course, you cannot turn absurdity into somehing meaningful even when it has been backed by plethora of explainations. But I believe the author is referring to a right, meaningful answer. A teacher says the grass is green. A student asks why it's green. The teacher replies, what other color would you expect it to be? The teacher's claim that grass is generally green is not false, absurd. In the second he's just evading a legitimate point by putting down the student.

While I was writing the above thing this came to my mind:
1: Grass is green.

2: You could also expect it (grass) to be of red color.
3: You could also expect it (grass) to be red.
4: You would also expec it (grass) to be of red color.
5: What other color would you expect it (grass) to be of?

Which version is more correct? Please let me know.
