Sorry! I don't quite understand what you are trying to say.
First, does 'Being a perfectionist will cause you pain' means a) 'you will create pain to yourself because you are a perfectionist' or b) 'the fact that you are a perfectionist will cause pain to yourself' ?

Second, there should be a cause for us to use "Don't think the worst." For example, seeing that it isn't good for you to get yourself all work up (to be overly concerned) for an outcome that might not be serious, your friend might say, "Don't think the worst." In other words, I don't fire off the phrase 'Don't think the worst" without letting the readers know what the person I talked to think of.

Sorry! Because I don't understand the writing without extra context, I cannot rewrite it. However, others might be able to help you.

Nevertheless, using my example above, here are the sentences that make sense to me:

"Please, don't think the worse. Chances are nothing is serious for you to be overly concerned." (a person is trying to calm her friend down after a traffic infraction / violation as s/he is realizing that her friend is thinking of the worse outcome that is causing her to behave erratically).
