Don't reel in front of me!

Dear sirs,

A few days ago I spent some holidays on the Caribbean and one day, when my wife and me were about to spread out the towel on the sand a man said to us: Don't reel in front of me! He looked angry probably because he felt we were too close to him. Anyway, the thing is that I do not understand de meaning of "reel" in this sentence. Anybody help me?

Best regards,

Alberto
