Don't mention it; So long (out of fashion?)

A friend of mine has just told me that the leave-taking "So long" and the expression of gratitude "Don't mention it" are out of use in present-day spoken English. Is that point of view correct? Am I getting out of fashion considering I use them? Please, tell me.

I don't hear them often, though the host of the quiz show Joepardy is known to say "so long" at the end of each show.

Eladio,
So sorry to disappoint you, but that is exactly right. The phrases "So long" and "Don't mention it" are fast falling out of use -- have fallen out of use for many, along with the adjective "swell" and many other expressions. I can't even remember the last time I heard anybody use them.
