Don't live up to our standards

A group of friends try to get into a nightclub.

Guy #1: Can we come in?

Bouncer: You guys can, he can't.

Guy #1: Why not?

Bouncer: It's his shoes.

Guy #2: What's wrong with my shoes?

Bouncer: They don't live up to our standards. We have a dress code.

Guy #1: Dress code, my ass. It's because he's black, isn't it?!

Is the bold-face part correct and natural in this context? Thanks.

You want "come up to" there. You live up to expectations.
