Don’t know if it’s because

Is this sentence correct and something a native speaker would say?

I don’t know if it’s because I am sick that I want to go to sleep or if it’s because I’m tired.

Thank you

anonymous I don’t know if it’s because I am sick that I want to go to sleep , or if it’s because I’m tired. This is OK. Personally I would suggest that, in writing, you add the comma, but opinions may vary.

  • For consistency, you probably should contract the first "I am" to "I'm", in line with the contractions used throughout the rest of the sentence.
