Hi,
In simple terms, 'Don't be cheeky to me!'

Hi, Clive
Do you mean 'Don't be rude to me'? Thanks.

Thanks Clive for your answer. But why does it have anything to do with 'smart'? I don't see the meaning has something to do with 'smart'.
Thanks.

Hi,
I guess the underlying idea is that the person is being rude in a way that suggests they think they are smarter than you.

That's the underlying idea of the word 'cheeky', too.

Hi,
Could someone give an example of 'don't get smart with me'? When would you use the phrase?
Thanks!

I would suggest that you do not use it. It is disdainful. A rude boss might use it, or an angry parent.
