DONE ME WRONG

Dear Teachers,

1. Sometimes we learn the hard way in life, try not to get too down about it.

- "to get too down about it" means "to get so angry about it", right?

2. I think about my life gone by, and how it's done me wrong.

- "how it's done me wrong" means "how much damage it's caused me", right?

Thanks a lot to Teachers,

Stevenukd.

If something "has you down" you fee sad, not angry. If I tell you not to get so down, I'm telling you to not be so sad. In a way, yes, if a person "done me wrong" (obviously bad grammar) means he or she caused me problems, misjudged me, broke my heart - not usually so much in a criminal sense, like stole from me, but it could be that too.

I prefer "depressed" to "sad" for "being down."

Strangely, "do someboday wrong" gives me an first impression of "treat somebody unjustly".

Yes, Maple, your impression is correct. If I "do you wrong" I have done something that isn't fair, or at least you think it isn't fair. Did my description make it sound otherwise?

Oh, I'm sorry, Barbara!

I missed the word "misjudge" in your post, perhaps because it's a new word to me, my eyes just slipped by without
