Donald is popping with pride

Donald is popping with pride. He puts on the helmet. Of course, it's too big and comes down to his ears and nose, but he couldn't care less.

Hi,

Does "he is popping with pride" in the above mean "he is suddenly filled with pride?" Thanks.

Top answer

I don't feel 'suddenly' in there necessarily. He is effervescent with pride.
