Vocabulary

dominance / domination

dominance / domination

They are both nouns, but what's the difference between the two words?

(How do I differentiate them when I use them?)

Are they generally interchangeable?

Thank you. Emotion: smile

Hi Erin,

Thank you for answering my question.

I checked these nouns in some dictionaries.

One has 'donimance' as a noun derivative of 'dominant'(domination' doesn't exist there), but the other one has 'domination' only as its noun.

So...... I thought it's funny.

There's a difference between them......hmmmm..

just my opinion:

dominance is the control or influence over someone or something

domination is the excercising of control or influence over someone or something

But in practice,i guess the distinctioins are not so clear..
