Dollar o dollars

Is this sentence correct, and should it be dollar or dollars?

It is a ten thousand dollar or dollars car.

Is it 'the car cost or costs ten thousand dollars'?

I think it should be "costs". Am I right?

If you are talking about a car that is being sold now, use costs. if you are talking about one that someone already bought for ten thousand dollars, use cost.
