Doing sth by sb

Suppose, I want to paint my house. So I called one painter and he started the work.

Now my doubt is that how can I express this in one sentence

which one is correct. I am painting my house / I am making paint for my house.

Top answer

Hi I am making paint for my house – doesn't make much sense here I am painting my house – does makes sense. It's true that the latter one would suffice here. Still, you could put it more precisely by saying the following: I am having my house painted by a house-painter.

  • Hi I am making paint for my house – doesn't make much sense here I am painting my house – does makes sense.
  • It's true that the latter one would suffice here.
  • Still, you could put it more precisely by saying the following: I am having my house painted by a house-painter.
  • Now, it's clear that you've requested assistance from a painter and that you're not doing the work (all) by yourself.
  • If you say that you have something done/are having something done , it means that someone else does/is doing the work for you.
