Doing any kind of sports

Hello everyone,

Does the following sentence sound odd to you: "Barry's a very active person, doing any kind of sports"? I don't like the sentence but some people think it sounds okay. "Any kind of sports" doesn't sound good to me, but I might be wrong.

Thank you.
