Dogs attracted to food

Could someone tell me if the right words are being used?

Would you use the word « attracted » and say « give off more smell »?

Dogs are more attracted to burgers than they are to chocolate. If you’d are eating a burger, the dog will be right next to you wanting someone. It wouldn’t be there while you are eating chocolate. I guess a burger give off more smell than chocolate does.
