What's a difference of nuance between

a)Her house smells of dog.

b)Her house smells of dogs.

The first one means the house has a bad smell that can be described as the smell of a house that might have a dog in it (wet fur, outside dirt smell, etc.). There might be a dog, but not necessarily. It is just to describe the smell.

The second sentence means the person actually thinks there are several dogs at the house because it smells like that.
