can I say,

He washed the dog's kennel / dog kennel.

He washed the kennel of the dog.

To me the last sentence is wrong. You are talking about a living creature here, the dog, and it can posses anything so don't use "the.. of" f

I personally believe it depends.......you can say  the dog's kennel if the dog you are talking about is his own dog.....the rule says you should use the dog's kennel form if the kennel belongs to the dog.....as far as the dog kennel form goes I think it's possible to use that too if the kennel you are talking about is a general one....I'll try to give you more examples
