Dog acquaintance/country kennel

Hi

There are many ways of getting a dog. A dog acquaintance may have puppies and its owner asks whether you would like one. You say certainly not, then you look at the litter, and wind up with two of them. You drive out to a country kennel to look at dogs with a friend who is going to buy one. You buy one, too.

Does "dog acquaintance" mean "a dog which you know"?

Does "country kennel" mean a kennel which is located outside of a city?

Newguest Does "dog acquaintance" mean "a dog which you know"? I suppose it could but it's a very odd expression. If this is a quote from a larger work the context should make clear exactly what "dog acquaintance" means.

Yes. Country kennel sounds better, though, because of the alliteration, and is so more likely to be used.

ed.: While "country" is synonymous with "rural", neither of them can simply be defined as "outside a city".
