Doesn't 'OF' should be put in this sentence?

The passage below comes from SAT Power Vocab as follows :

https://books.google.co.kr/books?id=7Xk0AQAAQBAJ&pg=PA125&dq=%22Zach+was+able+to+turn+it+into+a+combination%22&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjn5oyHobPJAhXIJaYKHRz5Cz4Q6AEIGjAA#v=onepage&q=%22Zach%20was%20able%20to%20turn%20it%20into%20a%20combination%22&f=false

By slightly altering the configuration of chips on the motherboard of his laptop computer. Zach was able to turn it into a combination (of) death ray and time machine.

In this sentence, there is no 'of' in the original text.
So I put 'of' within parenthesis.
It would be better to put 'of', wouldn't it?
Am I right?

And is this sentence OK without 'of' as original sentence?
If it is, can you also tell me why?

Regards.

I think "of" should be used there.
Otherwise, "... a combined death ray and time machine" would also be acceptable.

Stenka25 Doesn't 'OF' should be put in this sentence?
Note that forms of do (doesn't) are not used with modal verbs (like should).

Shouldn't 'of' be put in this sentence?

Thanks a lot for your immediate reply, AlpheccaStars.
But 'teechr' says 'of' should be put.
Can you agree with 'teechr' or do you have any reason for your reply?
(As you have given me several critical helps before, I don't think you offered your reply without any reason and I'm eager to know your logic.)
Thanks a million.
