0Hi Dave,02br

00There are some folks here who are experts in this, but no, this is nothing like "Old English," nor like "Middle English." It simply has a literary feel.0-

0 00Could anyone at least try to make it sound closer to Middle English? It doesn't have to be even close to perfect, just something that will sound better.02br
00 I am really lost in this subject00 0-

0Dave, look up the Canterbury Tales on Google - you'll see that when you read it, it's very difficult and very different from modern English. 02br
02br
00Perhaps you would be better off reading some verses from the King James bible, which hath words like doth and cometh. Perhaps that's more of what you're looking for?0-

00I wont have time afterwards. I was just thinking that maybe someone could make02br
00it sound a little prettier, thats all. Thanks anyway and for the future, yes, I02br
00will look it up on Canterbury Tales.00 0-

0 I'm sure someone could make it sound a lot prettier, but then you'd be handing in someone else's work and calling it your own. That's called plagiarism, and you can get yourself into a lot of trouble for it.02br

0You need to start thinking of Old English as virtually a different language to modern English. Middle English is more recognisable but still very different. Your piece isn't really similar to either of those, it's more of a Victorian poetical style. If you want a good reference book about the development of English that is not too academic then I can recommend 'The Adventure of English' by Melv
