Does this sentence sound fine?

Hi,

Does the following sentence sound OK?

"An alternating light, compared to a steady source of light, has more significant effects on the increase of melatonin levels."

Thanks!

Top answer

" However, it is unclear what "greater effect on the increase" means. Is the increase more or less under steady light? I wouldn't exactly know what "alternating light" meant, except that it varies in some way.
