Does this sentence make sense?

This study will investigate the morphology, age, and sedimentary characteristics of fluvial terraces adjacent to the Rivers Noe and Derwent, in order to establish if their genesis is a consequence of linkages between local aggradational events, namely tectonic uplift, landslide, and local land use change, or regional climate change; and examine the implications of these findings for understanding fluvial terrace genesis in the wider Hathersage region.

My problem with the sense is that you present only two alternative causes for the terraces' geneses seemingly as if they are the only ones possible, and it is hard to see how any climate change could be one on a par with the aggradational events. Also, it would be clearer if you put another "of" before "regional" as a signpost if you do indeed mean "a consequence of regional climate change". Also, no punctuation belongs where you have the semicolon.
