Does this sentence make sense?

According to Rostow’s (1959) model, The Stages of Economic Growth, it was a traditional society, a sugar-based monoculture where agriculture accounted for 25% of GDP (Lange, 2009).

Top answer

"According to" could be better. It sounds like Rostow appraised the very society you're writing about. Also, the book is not a model.
